Chris accepted the call to serve as Minister of Music and Worship at Lakeside in November 2004. Born in Hammond, Indiana, he spent most of his formative years with his parents and younger sister in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Nashville, Tennessee. Chris holds a Bachelor of Music in Church Music and a Master of Music in Church Music from Samford University. His specialized areas of study include trombone and vocal performance and choral conducting.
Chris accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord at age 10 and was baptized at University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In his junior year of high school, Chris felt God calling him into ministry. By the end of his senior year he recognized his more specific calling into music ministry. He was licensed to the gospel ministry by First Baptist Church, Pinson, Alabama. Before coming to Lakeside, Chris served in the music ministry at First Baptist Church, Centerpoint. Alabama, and was director of the music program at Southeastern Bible College.
Chris has had the privilege of being married to Patricia Baker Diffey since June of 1996. They have been blessed by their children Morgan, James, and Matthew. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, reading, gardening, and listening to and performing music.
