A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Renee grew up at Eastmont Baptist Church where she became a Christian at age seven.
Renee attended Samford University and pursued a law degree. However, the Lord had different plans for her. During her freshman year, God called Renee to fulltime Christian ministry. After graduating from Samford with a degree in Elementary Education, she moved to Texas and completed a Masters degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary.
While a student at Southwestern, Renee had the privilege of serving on the staff of Prestonwood Baptist Church. It was there that the Lord helped to understand and be equipped for the role of Children’s Minister.
After graduation from Southwestern, Renee was called to Hueytown, Alabama to serve as the Minister to Preschool/Children at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. While there she married Steve Pate. After five and a half years of effective and transformational ministry at Pleasant Ridge, Renee and Steve felt called to begin their family. They prayed and God led them to the decision that she would stay home with their children.
Renee and Steve are blessed to be Mom and Dad to James Cooper (July, 2002) and Campbell Leigh (August, 2004). In March 2011, Renee returned to fulltime ministry by becoming Minister to Children at Lakeside.
Renee has a heart for children and a passion to see them grow as disciples. Her joy in life is seeing children and their parents embrace who God has called them be as they impact the world for Christ.
