Carpenters for Christ
This is not how most people choose to spend their summer vacation - in a town that's not their own, building a church that's not their own. Installing heating, air and ventilation, electrical work, putting up sheet rock and even framing the buildings; Carpenters for Christ is a missions oriented group sharing the love of Jesus Christ by helping others in need.
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." 1 Peter 3:15b (NIV)
Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
Throughout her career, Charlotte Digges Moon more commonly known as Lottie Moon wrote numerous letters urging Southern Baptists to become more involved in missions. In there letters she stated, "How many million more souls are to pass into eternity without having heard the name of Jesus?” During her nearly forty years 1873 to 1912 in the mission’s field, she laid a foundation for strong, solid support for missions among the Southern Baptists. Still today more than 3,340 of the world’s nearly 11,600 people groups live and die in spiritual darkness. To reach these lost people will require the continued growth of our missionary force through partnering with churches, Baptist, and others.
Southern Baptist missionaries encompass the largest group of denominational missionaries serving around the world today. Through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, support is able to be provided for a respectable 5,200 missionaries on the field. Today, our goal for the annual missions offering named for Lottie Moon is a substantial $150 million. Missionaries all around the world need people like you to give both financially and spiritually. They are looking for prayer warriors just like you; for God-called servants to join them on the field as new missionaries. Your financial support through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering can help touch lives around the Globe. As Lottie Moon said, “How many there are ... who imagine that because Jesus paid it all, they need pay nothing, forgetting that the prime object of their salvation was that they should follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ in bringing back a lost world to God. (Tungchow, China: Sept. 15, 1887)”.
Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
Annie believed in Christ with all her heart. Through her hands on ministry, she expressed that belief in tangible ways. She is best known for her inspiration which led women to unite in mission endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union. Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more for reaching people for Christ. To commemorate the Women’s Mission Unions first corresponding secretary and crusader for home missions, the Annie Armstrong Offering was named in Annie Armstrong’s honor in 1934. The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is much more than a once a year emphasis. The name was changed in 1969 to what we now know was the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and is traditionally collected in observance with the Christian holiday.
Your gifts are directly transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. The goal is simply to provide the resources needed so others can hear the message of Christ. It is each of our prayers that in hearing the Good Word, people will respond in faith and chose salvation in Jesus Christ. One hundred percent of the gifts collected for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering go directly to the mission’s field. No portion of the collected gifts goes toward promotional expenses or is used to support the national agency. A gift to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering provides missionaries with the funding needed to complete their works.
